SPECIAL NOTE:

Actors seeking a position with Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles Apprentice Company must demonstrate solid theatrical training and strong skills with Shakespeare's texts and abilities to passionately and imaginatively convey ideas contained in Shakespeare's verse and prose. Actors should have a resume that includes the Shakespearean characters previously played, the names of the theaters and directors of the productions.

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles, recreates its annual immersive apprentice company production of Shakespeare's Macbeth, where intimate audiences journey through our studio, transformed into a haunted castle. The production is a full staging of Macbeth in 11 locations. It is directed by former Royal Shakespeare Company member Kenn Sabberton.

Roles:

[LADY MACBETH]

20's to 30's years old, all ethnicities female. An actor with immense focus and mental strength. Charismatic and with a strong grounding in Shakespeare's verse. Physically controlled and focused. Able to play a strong woman with flaws. Psychologically complex.

[MACBETH]

20's - 30's years old, all ethnicities male. An actor who is physically strong and can demonstrate comfort with stage combat. Charismatic with a strong grounding in Shakespeare's verse. A leader of men who is easily lead. Physically focused and determined. Able to form a strong relationship with an audience.

[CHARACTER ACTORS]

20's to 40's years old, all ethnicities male. In addition to classical training and skills with Shakespeare's verse and prose, this Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles production requires character actors to exercise their skills of physical transformation to portray several roles. Actors should be very demonstrably comfort with stage combat challenges. Classically trained actors who are also skilled musicians are highly desirable.

[CHARACTER ACTRESSES]

20's 40's years old, all ethnicities female.
