MACBETH at the LUMMIS HOUSE

As part of The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles' year-long exploration of Macbeth, one of William Shakespeare's greatest plays, the Junction Theatre is producing a site-specific staging at the historic Lummis House. This Macbeth will be directed by Benjamin Pohlmeier, who has condensed the text to a running time of 90 minutes. It will feature the facade of the Lummis House to evoke a medieval Scottish Castle -- linking the cultural heritage of Los Angeles with the legacy of world theatre.

Macbeth will be presented for two weeks in September to students from middle schools and high schools in the adjoining areas, as well as to the general public. The performances of Macbeth will be offered free of charge to the students and schools involved.

This production has received support from eight Northeast Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils and the Sony Corporation of America! Big thanks to the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council, the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council, the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council, the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council, the Glassell Park Neighborhood Council, the Greater Cypress Park Neighborhood Council, the LA32 Neighborhood Council, and the Historic Cultural Neighborhood Council!
